Aloha from Kauai Everyone,
We are here for two more nights before we jump islands and head to Oahu. We have had so much fun already and Logan is having the time of his life playing in the water here. The weather has been perfect, highs in the low 80’s and the low’s in the 70’s. The water is in the low 80’s too. Yesterday we headed up to the north shore to check out the lighthouse and enjoy some of the beaches for Katie’s Birthday before heading back to Shenanigans for dinner. Chris and Elise bought a birthday cake to end the days celebrations back at the beach cottages.
Logan has been busy playing in the waves on the beach, watching mommy snorkel and watching all the birds fly by. We’ve seen sand crabs, a sea turtle, Hawaiian geese, a pod of spinner dolphins, boats, and airplanes so far. He also did really good on the airplane. The gate attendant moved us to a three seat row so we were able to bring his car seat on board and put it between us which he crawled around on for most of the flight.
Kt had a fun day lounging on the beach and snorkeling in the warm water for her Birthday. There are lots of fish right off shore and she even saw an eel. Tomorrow we are going to stop at the Kauai Coffee Company before our flight to stock up on some yummy coffee. hopefully we can make this a somewhat regular vacation as its so convenient for us and still so much to do and see.
We did however have to change cottages. The original one had mice crawling around the kitchen and trying to raid our food along with a wasp nest on the porch. Where is Toulie when you need her? It’s also the wedge tailed Shearwater bird mating season. They are burrowing sea birds and have built their dens underneath and around the cottages. So instead of listening to waves crashing on the beach we have been listening to seabird mating calls which sound very similar to Logan crying. Anyway, the new place is only about a year old and is much, much nicer. We actually got a really good night sleep last night and feel refreshed today.
Tomorrow we are heading to the Hale Koa in the afternoon where we will spend the last two nights of the vacation…. Will try to post more pics then, but here are a few…. And a video or two
