our first glimpses

Just like back in the Old Days, some of the best photographs are the Black n White ones. Our first actual picture of Peanut brought to you via Ultrasonic resolution. Just a wee lil nut as of yet, none the less a master piece and a work of Art in the making.
Of concern was the Heart Rate though beating at about 72bpm. According to some websites that we researched the heart rate does start out slow and picks up by the seventh week, so another ultrasound is scheduled for next thursday. Hopefully by then the heart rate will have pick up to its normal rate of about 140ish.
Looking on the bright side though, Peanut slept in all day yesterday as KT is still valiantly fighting off her sinus infection. YAY, for Peanut's first day of doing nothing but lounging around drinking nothing but decaffeinated teas and water on the rocks....
Me on the other hand slaved away cleaning the house for our welcomed guests coming in from the frozen tundra of Minnesota. Its gonna be hard for them to leave sunny n 75 degree CA.

235 days to go...

Todays news, brought to you by the Yeti himself, me, with beta hot off the press from "a day-to-day Guide to a healthy and happy pregnancy" journal. Unfortunately, KT somehow has contracted a sinus infection and has been laid up in bed sleeping all day today. So, health and happiness weren't high in the list of words to describe herself.
However, peanut miraculously came through with the good news and has grown a hypothalamus and a backbone which should soon grow a pair of ribs too. Three cheers for PEANUT!!!!
In other news around the world/house, we decided on waiting with baby names until around the end of the first trimester. I must admit though, that I already caught KT milling around websites for names. busted... hehe
Lastly, but of course certainly not least, KT's parents and sister are coming out this weekend for a visit of the new prego Mrs Kirsch.
Toulie (the 3rd kid/dog, behind myself and Peanut) will be ecstatic to see them, although she has no idea how her life is going to change in the coming year. I am sure she cant wait till peanut will be able to throw the ball to her. Toulie, much like myself has never been able to plan too far ahead. I think, until now, the farthest I have ever been able to plan my life is about 3 weeks.... whew! big changes to come.

Exciting news on this 25th Day of March, 2009.

Peanut is growing a brain today

Peanut's brain, according to KT's Prego Journal (as I call it) has broken down into three sections today. The forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain.
Now, now, before everyone starts commenting that we wish Peanut's forebrain is much more like Kt's (the higher order part), lets remember that she did indeed marry me. hehe. Of course, that being said, I too hope for Peanut to have KT's intellect.
Also, Peanut is the size of a small coffee bean, about 3/8", which we would concur with after seeing our initial ultrasound last Thursday. Pics soon to come from the next one this friday.
Another statistic is that Peanut is growing at an incredible rate; now 15,000 time bigger than at conception. Holy moley!!!!

In other news, KT is still doing remarkably well. With little to no sickness as of yet. We did, however, make ice cream shakes with Girl Scout Mint cookies one night...
