another video...

California Winter activities

Well here we are back again. It's the end of January, and we thought we would share a little inside scoop of what we do when the weather gets downright brutal..... well, ok maybe that's not even close to reality but that's not say that we dont miss the snow. The weather here this last week has been in the upper 60's and sunny everyday. We went from record lows early this year to record highs.
Logan continues to learn new things daily. He has mastered walking and now is on the fast pace to running and climbing. He tries to climb everything including the oven door, baby gates, his crib, and furniture.
He loves reading books and will read through his entire library daily. Animal books and truck books are his favorites.
Next month we are off to Tahoe for a week for a medical course I am attending. KT and Logan are going to come up for a couple days and enjoy the snow and some sledding hopefully. Hopefully we will get some good pics and videos which we will post here.
Regardless, here are some pics and a video of us making the most of January 2011!!!!

Happy Hollow

Hello everyone! The days are passing so fast! I'd like to say we've been really busy at the Kirsch household, because that is what it feels like, but the days go by so fast, busy or not. We've had nice weather here lately. We were so sick of rain in December and it has finally cleared up a bit. Today was so nice! Almost 70 and sunny! I went for a run with Logan and Toulie around base while Sean was at work.
On Sunday we ventured out to Happy Hollow Park in San Jose for the first time. I had heard about it before but Logan had been too young to go. They have zoo type animals and some amusement rides. Logan went on the carrousel and the dragon ride (a little train). The train drove by all kinds of random scenes, like the three little pigs, rapunzel, the wizard of Oz, and other random animals. Logan squealed with delight while passing all of them.
He also had the time of his life feeding the goats. He loved them, and kept calling them "bowww," I think he thought they were dogs. They had a big area where you could pet animals and he loved doing it. There are a few other rides to go on but he is too young still. It was a nice afternoon and I'm glad we went. I think he will really like it in the future.
This past weekend we also took out our trailer just behind the house to play around in it. We are itching to use it, so hopefully we can do that soon. We brought it in to get a few things repaired, the radio stopped working and there was a bubble in the linoleum, amongst a few other minor things. If we get it back before this weekend we might try to head out somewhere.
I have a job interview on Thursday for a family assistance position for the Army National Guard. I'm not sure if it is the right job for me, but I at least have to give it a shot and go to the interview and find out about it. I just started on my master's thesis so I don't know if I can handle a crazy 14 month old, a full time job, and a master's thesis at the same time......it makes me nauseous thinking about it.
Anyway, I hope this finds you all well. We are finally all healthy and excited for what the new year will bring us. Enjoy some pictures of the cutest kid that is growing way, way too fast.

January updates

Well another New Years has come and gone and life here is hopefully back to normal. Logan has been sick for the last week. It will be 7 days tomorrow. He has been to the dr twice now and has another appt tomorrow morning. He starting coming around today finally from his diarrhea and vomitting, but we've had a few set backs already so keeping our fingers crossed he's over it come tomorrow. The dr thinks its a stomach bug still and sounds like it is going around. He doesnt have any weight to lose and is already 4oz less than his 1yr old weight in November. He started getting his energy back today though, so he was back playing on the canine jungle, AKA Toulie.
Kt has been busy trying to get her thesis proposal done lately. Her professor has been out of touch for the most part which makes it pretty difficult in submitting anything. She also came down with a cold, probably the same one I had, once we got back home from the holidays. So, its been the cold season at the house here for the last couple weeks.
Work for me has been a lot of office work lately getting ready for a busy summer. We're still planning and hoping to get out and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible this year. Logan loves being outside almost as much as we do, and we cant wait for the weather to warm up some more. Of course, its nothing compared to the temps back home in Minnesota tonight, which are forecasted to be -12 degrees.
So thats all the news here. Kt captured some good vids on her phone so will have to see if she can post some when she gets a chance again.
Hope this post finds everyone well and happy!!

Christmas time pics

Hey Everyone,

Well we made it back from MN after a fun filled week. Logan did great again on the flights. The very last flight coming back to CA, he fell asleep before we even got to altitude and woke up when we were on final. He had a blast sledding and playing with all of his cousins and his new toys. I think he enjoyed opening presents a little more this year too since he knew there was something fun to play with underneath the wrapping paper this time around. The time went by way to fast and before we knew it, it was time to head back to CA. So, here we are back home in rainy California. We have a 4 day weekend and for once I think KT wishes she was back in MN with family and friends.... I do too. It was fun playing hockey with my brother and Abby, watching Logan play with his cousins, sledding and just hanging out and relaxing for a change. Thanks again to Grandpa and Grandma Hawkinson for putting up with us and for the tickets. I will have to post some more pics of Christmas later, but here are some pics with family.

The Renegade...

Here is our little renegade Logan. Last night he was being hilarious, running around the house for over an hour. He's getting really good at walking, although, he looks pretty funny with his chest puffed out, arms flailing, and silly facial expressions.

Oh, and never-mind the mess. Logan threw the mail all over the floor and thought it was really fun to walk all over it.

We are really excited to head to the tundra to spend Christmas with family and friends. In a week we will be flying in for a short visit. Can't wait to get Logan and Cameron together again.

Well, this is a short one as we are pretty busy, but wanted to share this gem of a video with you all! Ciao for now!

Happy Halloween...

Err, sorry I am a little late here. Things have been busy as usual here. Kt has been slaving away trying to get as much school work done as possible and my job has me going 100mph even on my time off.
Logan is also staying in style and on his own speedy pace and always busy and wanting to be on the go. We went for a half hr walk yesterday. He enjoys holding our fingers and just starts going. Nowhere special, just anywhere outside. It rained the majority of last week so he had plenty of energy couped up in the house here. Kt's mother Kathy was out for the weekend to give KT some time off to study which was a tremendous help to her.
We're looking forward to coming back to MN in less than two weeks now. I cant wait to take Logan sledding. I'm sure he will have a blast even though he hasnt ever been in the snow. Sounds like there will be plenty of it when we get there.
Logan is getting better at walking and shows much initiative to walk almost everywhere now. Only when he is in a hurry, like when the outside door is open, does he crawl. He also has been talking and saying words a lot more. Truck, puff, shoe, ball, car, sock, momma, dadda are just some of the favorites that he knows the meanings of. He can also high-five and wave.
Well, I think that's about all the time I have right now, but stay tuned for Christmas pics and real winter weather soon.
